The Eye of The Storm

I have been through half the storm and been busy for a while with my ventures, so I have not kept up with this blog. However, I am now in the eye of the storm where it is calm and I can collect my thoughts and brainstorm before moving back into the storm and having at it again.

Hey everyone, so i don’t really know how many of you will really be reading this but thats not a big deal to me because im sure at least a few of you will. I wanted to kinda get a way from writing articles and more towards writing what was going on in my life as an entrepreneur. Now every now and then im sure Ill still do an article so dont get worried but its going to be a bit more colloquial as I share with you the inner workings of my life. As you can see from the last time I really posted its been a long time, something like 121 days. So let me explain a bit what happened. The last time you had seen me I was working on a show with my friend Marley. We had a few episodes and were doing alright but it was towards the end of my junior year and we couldn’t seem to get many subscribers so we kinda just left it. After that I was involved with trying to keep EXEC afloat ( my young entrepreneur group) which was also having some trouble that so that eventually faded out too when summer hit. For those of you who dont know I had started a company called the Cosucard which was a discount card for students. I had done so much work in trying to get the restaurants on board and getting my cards all ready but when I went to sell to students, no one bought. Another lesson in underestimating my market and unfortunately , another failure. Having the mindset of failing my forward and not giving up that summer I went on to create another venture. I went on to create The Orlando Gathering a networking series, which was a partial success and had a  few people come out to network and see the comedian I had booked at the venue I had booked.  Not enough people came out as I needed though due to the Orlando Magic game. Since I then became busy with other things I decided to drop the business.  Now I am just gathering my thoughts and brainstorming on new ideas deciding which ones to take further. My latest: ReadnTrade.com So check it out.   That’s all for now, keep checking back everyone.

Insomniac=Entrepreneur

So i know Im not wrong when I say that everyone at some point hasy its fhad a hard time falling asleep. It can be from a variety of reasons from Stress to Caffeine, to medical conditions. For smart entrepreneurs however who love to continuously innovate or should i say cant help but to continuously innovate there is a different reason. That reason hat most people don’t really consider is what I like to call “Creative Insomnia”. The Ailment of Genius’s.

So your thinking, what exactly is this “Creative Insomnia”? Well,  Its that wonderful feeling where your lying in bed.. and you know you gotta be up in a few hours and you want to sleep but your mind has other plans. Instead your mind,  decides to go into a creative frenzy and starts coming up with new ideas for your business, your life, your day, you name it and your brain will edit/improve/and create new things for you to conceive.  I am often subject to this lovely condition and often times the ideas are nonsense and don’t make much sense but every so often a great idea will come into my head. Usually I foolishly just say ill remember it in the morning and then forget it the next day. How amazing it would be If i could actually get up when i had one of those gems and wrote it down! that way when I woke up I would have it for sure and could possibly utilize it for something worthwhile!

One of the most famous genius’s in the world suffered from “Creative Insomnia”. Wonder who it is? Well its none other than the great Walt Disney. As one of my idols,  I recently read his biography and was fascinated with it from start to finish. I recommend it to anyone but what really intrigued me was that Walt Disney, one of the most creative and greatest entrepreneurs in the world, had the same condition I did.  He would often wake up in the middle of the night or not be able to go to sleep and have all these ideas  rushing through his head. Instead of ignoring them however he set up a desk right next to his bed so that if he needed to he could pop up and write down his ideas so he can review them in the morning. So if an enormous success like Walt Disney is writing down his ideas, then I can only assume that the rest of us should.

So if your ever struck with “Creative Insomnia” write down your ideas! and your more likely to fall asleep!
